The Social Justice committee is the lobbying arm of CCMF. Additionally, each month we meet virtually with several of our Federal and State elected leaders or their representatives to discuss what’s happening behind the scenes and suggest legislation, encourage actions and present ideas for enactment. e use our monthly meeting to plan for the month’s work. We may also use this time to discuss a letter writing campaign. Issues important to us include women’s rights, migrant and refugee rights, criminal justice issues, voting rights, health care, and climate change. The issues we work on are determined by a combination of need and the expertise of our group members.
If you’re passionate about an issue, or have expertise in a particular issue, we’d love to have you join us. We’re currently looking for new members with:
Knowledge about environmental or immigration issues.
Notetaking ability to create Minutes of our meetings and on lobbying calls.
Database skills to set up and maintain an accountability system to keep track of what the representatives of elected officials say they’ll do.
Social Justice monthly meetings are on the first Thursday of the month at 5:30pm.
